Baltimore Bowmen Traditional Classic
Graham Memorial Park
Glen Arm, MD
May 15–17
This was the first event that Practical Primitive attended last year, and we had a blast. The courses are well laid out, the site is really nice, the camping is free and the people are great. We met some great folks, made some new friends, and are definitely looking forward to going back this year. If you've been thinking about checking out a Traditional shoot, this is a great one to start with. Some come by and see us!
For directions & more information about the event, see the Baltimore Bowmen website.
Practical Primitive Travels to Texas
June 9–16
We're heading to Texas a bit later than usual this year, but the weather should still be pretty nice, and not too hot to do some fun skills workshops outdoors. We haven't made final decisions about what workshops we will offer this time around, so if you are in that area and are hoping to see something in particular be sure to let us know right away! We're always looking for your input.
We are currently planning to hold all of the workshops at our Clifton location (about 40 minutes north of Waco), which is central to Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and Houston. But for all you Austin and Houston folks that have been traveling up to Starhaven for workshops, if you've got 4 or more people and a place in your area, we are more than happy to hold a workshop where you are.
And don't forget, we will again be driving down, so if you live along
the route and would like to see about having us stop along the way for
some one-on-one Mentoring, or to run a workshop in your area for your
group please give us a call, or e-mail info@practicalprimitive.com and
let's see what we can set up!

ETAR: The Eastern Traditional Archery Rendezvous
Ski Denton
Coudersport, PA
July 23-26
We had
a real blast at this event last year and are definitely planning to make this
one a part of our regular Summer Events "tour". One of the largest
Traditional-Only Archery events in the world, 'Denton' draws
shooters and their families from across the eastern half of the United States,
down from Canada, even from Europe. Eight courses with over 200 3-D targets spread
across 700 acres, over 100 traditional archery bowyers and suppliers, an Eagle
Eye Competition and seminars on many different topics — this event is "The
Show"! We'll provide more detailed info on this one as it becomes available,
and hope you'll come find us!
For directions & more information about the event, see the Archery Festivals website.

Stone Tool Technology Show
Letchworth State Park
Castile, NY
August 28-30
We had hoped to be at this event last year but some last minute schedule conflicts
meant we couldn't make the trip. So long as nothing goes awray, this will
be our first year at "Letchworth",
the largest Stone Tool show in the Northeast, and we can't wait. This one
is on the calendar of just about every serious flintknapper in the eastern U.S.,
and only bring as much money as you can afford to spend because when you see
all the pretty, pretty rock self-control quickly goes straight out the window!
Set in the area of the Genesee River, take an hour to check out the fabulous
falls and the 600 foot gorge that the New York State Park website calls "the
Grand Canyon of the east".
For directions & more information about the event, see the New York State Parks website.

Flint Ridge Knap-in
Flint Ridge Memorial Park
Brownsville, OH
September 4–6
The culmination of the big knap-in season in the east, plenty of knappers
go straight from Letchworth to Flint Ridge. We always have a fantastic time
at this event and are very much looking forward to seeing old friends and making
new ones again this time around.
This is a fun show with plenty of rock and knapping tools, an atlatl range,
as well as suppliers for all kinds of other primitive and traditional skills. (Including
one of the finest and most reasonably priced teepee makers we've ever met,
Wendell Humphrey. If you're in the market for a teepee, this is the guy
to call!) This is usually the last big event on our schedule, so be sure
and come by to say hi!
For directions & more information about the event, see the Discover
Ohio website.
(And if you'd like to see if we can add a few days to the trip and work in some one-on-one Mentoring, or a Skills 2 You workshop for your group while we're in the area, give us a call or send an e-mail to info@practicalprimitive.com.)

Practical Primitive Travels to TORONTO, ONTARIO!
The P.I.N.E. Project
Toronto, ON
October 9-18
In what we hope will become an ongoing tradition, The P.I.N.E. Project is hosting us for two weekend workshops at their location in the west end of Toronto, near High Park. The weekend of October 9-11 Eddie will be conducting his 9 Step Knapping™ workshop, which will run Friday evening, all-day Saturday and all-day Sunday. The following weekend, October 17 & 18 we will be holding two 1-day workshops on Gathering Baskets and Acorn Processing. The acorn harvest here in New Jersey is early and already plentiful, so if things are the same up in Toronto it's going to be a great (and tasty) workshop — we're looking forward to seeing you there!
While Julie's mom is thrilled that we will be home for a Thanksgiving visit, we will have a few days during the week in which we could schedule some Mentoring time, or another workshop in Southern Ontario, so if you'd like to set something up give us a call or send Julie an e-mail. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
